How to Land Your First Client (Without Feeling Salesy OR Taking Another Course)

Let’s get straight to it. You don’t need another business or sales course to land your first client.

There’s a myth floating around that says you need to “learn more” before you can actually start your business. That you need another certification, another framework, or another six-week program on “how to sell” before you’re worthy of clients.

🚨 It’s a lie.

If your content is clear, solves a problem, and offers actionable value, not just fluffy, feel-good advice, you position yourself as the go-to person for your ideal client. And that? That’s what gets you hired.

1️⃣ Clients Don’t Want More Information. They Want Solutions

People wake up every day with problems they want solved. They don’t need more nice-to-have content. They don’t want a coach who’s just “relatable.” They want someone who can help them fix what’s keeping them stuck.

πŸ”₯ Your job? Show them you can do that.

πŸ“Œ Example: If you’re a business coach, don’t post “inspirational quotes” about believing in yourself. Instead, teach them how to fix their biggest struggle today.

❌ Fluff content: “Mindset is everything! Believe in your success!”
βœ… Content that converts: “3 reasons your Instagram content isn’t bringing in clients (and how to fix it today).”

When people see you solving their problem before they even pay you, they trust that you’ll get them results when they do.

2️⃣ Your Content Should Do the Selling FOR You

You don’t need to cold pitch or feel awkward selling if your content is already positioning you as the expert.

Your ideal client should:
βœ” See your content and think, “Wow, this is exactly what I needed.”
βœ” Feel like you get them because your content speaks directly to their struggles.
βœ” Know what you offer and how you can help them without having to guess.

πŸ’‘ The clearer you are, the easier it is for the right clients to say YES.

3️⃣ Yes, Be Relatable. But Also Be The Person Who Knows Their Sh*t

Being relatable, vulnerable, and authentic is important. But that alone won’t get you clients.

πŸ’‘ People need to see you as the expert who has the solution not just someone they like following.

βœ… Talk about your experiences, but always tie them back to a lesson.
βœ… Be real about your struggles, but show how you overcame them.
βœ… Give clear, actionable advice that helps them make progress NOW.

πŸ‘‰ Example: Instead of "I used to struggle with sales too. It’s hard, right?"
πŸ”₯ Say: "I used to struggle with sales too until I realized this ONE shift that changed everything. Here’s what I did and how you can apply it today."

See the difference? One is relatable but vague. The other builds trust AND authority.

4️⃣ Make It Easy for People to Work With You

If someone is loving your content but has no idea how to actually hire you, that’s a problem.

βœ” Have a clear CTA (Call-to-Action) on every post.
βœ” Make booking or applying simple and obvious.
βœ” Show them what happens next so they don’t have to guess.

πŸ’‘ People won’t chase you. Make it crystal clear how they can work with you.

πŸš€ You Don’t Need Another Course. You Need to Take Action

If you’ve been waiting until you feel “ready” or until you “learn more” before putting yourself out there, stop. You already know enough to help someone.

πŸ“Œ Here’s what to do today to land your first client:
βœ… Post content that actually helps people solve a problem.
βœ… Make it easy for them to take the next step. (I'll cover how to do this in an upcoming blog post)
βœ… Be consistent because trust is built over time.

πŸ’‘ When people see you as the person who can fix their problem, you won’t have to chase clients. They’ll come to you.
